In this passage, as well as others in the book of Ezekiel, God uses the symbol of an adulterous or licentious woman to represent the nation of Israel. In the Bible, being spiritually impure (committing spiritual adultery or fornication), was an indication that they were worshiping idols. These idols were like lovers to the nation of Israel. The reason why God hated idolatry? It almost always involved human sacrifices of their own babies (Jeremiah 7:31 & 19:5).
